I went to see The Princess and the Frog with the family this evening. It was pretty good, overall. I'd say it was greater than the sum of its parts, in a way. The animation and voice acting was good, and the villain was kind of cool. There were no particularly memorable songs, but the movie, taken collectively, it was a better animated movie than Disney's given us 10-12 years, Lilo & Stitch and possibly The Emporer's New Groove excepted.

Thanks to Aaron and Eric, I was able to beat my Lady Gaga/Lovecraft pastiche into shape, and got it submtted. That's two for two this week. I'm on a roll, bitches.

    All together now...
Yesterday, I joined my parents in a cold warehouse at 8 am to put together Christmas baskets for charity. It's a yearly drive done by my dad's former employer, and it's become an annual thing for he and my mom--and now me--to join them for it. Area businesses donate goods and boxes, a lumber warehouse donates space, and employees and retirees and their families donate the manpower and deliver the boxes.

Each "basket" is actually a cardboard box filled with 75 pounds of dry goods (cereal, beans, pasta), canned goods, non-perishables, and occasionally non-grocery items. It's done assembly line, with several flat dollies holding boxes being pushed slowly along while volunteers stationed in front of stacks of boxed food put their items in, while still others unpack the boxes. Once they're all packed, people take boxes and deliver them, mostly to the elderly, but also a few families.

During the packing, someone brought a radio and tuned it to Q99, which is playing nothing but Christmas music right now, just for background music. That blasted Alvin and the Chipmunks Christmas song came on. No one seemed to pay any attention to it, but it was clear we were all listening when all of the sudden about eight people all at once sang, "I still want a hula hoop." It tickled me to no end!

Usually we're out until 1 or 2 pm doing deliveries, but luck and efficiency won out. They greatly increased the assembly line's efficiency so we did 450 boxes in less time than we used to do 300, and all our deliveries were in a single building. People are always glad for the boxes, some are very grateful, and we get a lot of "God bless you"s, even a few hugs. I wish we could do more, but I know what's in the boxes can go a long way for some of them. (Even the Little Debbies that always show up.)

The whole thing is something I really enjoy doing, and I'm glad I have the chance. (And I will keep giggling about the "hula hoop" thing all season.)

ITLJE, Kage is, once again, more awesome than I deserve.
As I noted earlier this week, on Monday, a wonderful box arrived from the amazing [info]kageneko bearing many great and wonderful Yuletide surprises. In otherwords: I got awesome stuff!

    Behold... The AMAZINGNESS )

Kage, I'm sorry to make you wait so long for this, but you... Are awesome. Thank you so much for such a wonderful Christmastime treat. You never fail to surprise me, to make me giddy and to find a way to touch me, too. :) (No, Jason, not that way.)

    Thank you... Thank you. :)

Both God of War 3 codes I got (Gamestop voucher AND the one inside the booklet) are invalid codes. And I would have just downloaded it from Wes' account but his login apparently is invalid even though he told me the user/pass.

Fucking Christ. I just want to swing my Spartan cock around. Is that so hard?

edit: crisis averted, Wes changed his password.

I don't want to be at work today.
I want to be home, with a cup of tea. Knitting or reading a book. Or sewing.

Do you ever feel like there are a million things you want to do, are excited to do, but have no focus to do any of them?

I have a big picture post to make, if my printer will ever let me again read my memory card (it has a slot in it for it--it was working earlier, and now it's not). [info]kageneko sent me an AWESOME package! And it has goodies in it that smell good and will hopefully make my comptuer run faster and that I can read and did I mention smell good? :D

This woman is awesome. The best. So there.

Post is gonna happen, I swear!

So for some strange reason I'm skimming through old LJ entries. Adding a couple more to my Memories as well. Good times on the forums. "The more things change, the more they stay the same" is still true. At least from 2007-onward. When I get my pre-Austin comb-over I think I'm gonna delete a few stupid things though.

Today is slow as shit. Want to go home, make shepherd's pie, and watch Glee.

edit: hahahaha got to the part where me and travis called up buzzard and shouted LUCILLE

edit2: Travis: "don't have premarital sex...IN THE AMAZON. little fish climb up yo dick"

Why is LJ not emailing me my replies? Why is LJ being such a miserable slut?

    Explain this.

Of all the stupid fucking things I've done on the forums that people never let go or try to use as leverage to take me down a notch, why does it have to be the microwave pizza thing? I've got 6 or 7 bans under my belt, have derailed/shitted up god knows how many threads, I've even gotten banned for somebody else's posts on somebody else's account.

But no, I microwave Kraft mac n cheese and eat a $1 pizza every couple of months, so I'm not allowed to talk about food ever cause of one thread.

I am a professional troll, goddamnit.

Yo Travis (And Typewriters At Dawn Crew)
Here's the idea: vampires and lycanthropes are outed, and the vamps are trying to form a kind of homeland/nation for themselves. The Lord tells about the common human origins of both the vamps and the "werewolves" (they don't necessarily look like wolves, so I used the term "therianthrope") to allay human fears.

It's quick and dirty, and the formatting is all fucked up, but hey. Plus this computer is still doing that XP thing where the mouse hovers for a second and it counts as a click and it drives me berserk.

Oh look, the chickenshits at the BCS bowls matched up TCU and Boise St. instead of letting them play against a school from one of the big conferences.
